DevAlert can generate automatic alerts when errors, crashes or other defined anomalies occur. These alerts can include diagnostic information such as core dumps, system traces, logs, sensor readings and other application-specific data.
Core dumps from remote devices can be opened in familiar source-level debugging tools, allowing developers to inspect call stacks, function arguments, variables and processor registers.
System traces can be analyzed with Percepio Tracealyzer to examine the software events leading up to an anomaly, including RTOS task execution, API calls and custom application events.
Because alerts contain selected diagnostic information rather than continuous streams of runtime data, they can remain compact and can be stored or transferred efficiently.

Some embedded software problems occur only under particular timing conditions, after extended operation or through complex interactions between multiple tasks.
DevAlert can capture runtime errors automatically and provide diagnostic information when such problems occur. Development teams can therefore begin their investigation using information from the actual event instead of first having to reproduce the problem in the laboratory.
For deployed products, this creates a direct diagnostic feedback path from the affected device back to development and support.
Physical problems can often become visible through software — for example through error codes, abnormal sensor readings or unexpected system events.

Diagnostic information from embedded products may contain sensitive intellectual property, including firmware images, core dumps, logs, system traces and other application-specific data.
DevAlert therefore separates the hosted service from the customer's diagnostic data storage.
