Dear Customer,

At SEGGER, simplicity and professionalism are at the heart of everything they do. The company motto “It simply works” reflects the commitment of their colleagues to deliver products that are not only highly effective, but also easy to use in complex, technical environments.

SEGGER consistently puts into practice what its colleagues say. Their software drives the own hardware, and the hardware ensures the integrity and efficiency of the software. This holistic approach fosters an internal feedback loop in which SEGGER's developers are their own most demanding customers

By rigorously testing and refining the tools in its own projects, SEGGER ensures that it delivers nothing less than exceptional quality products to its customers.

Many of you know SEGGER for the widely used J-Link debug probes. But SEGGER's product portfolio extends far beyond that.

SEGGER: Four Main Product Categories
Consisting of four main categories (RTOS and embedded software, software tools, debug and trace probes, production tools), SEGGER offers efficient, reliable and robust tools that meet the diverse requirements of embedded system developers:

O  RTOS and Embedded Software

SEGGER's highly efficient software libraries are the backbone of modern embedded systems and ensure optimum performance and reliability.

Product highlight: embOS-Ultra - the high-precision RTOS

embOS-Ultra uses cycle-resolution timing and offers higher precision and time resolution than any other RTOS on the market. Scheduling of all time-based events, such as timeouts, delays and periodic timers, can now be specified in microseconds or even CPU cycles. Cycle-resolving timing technology replaces target-specific techniques for precise timing with clean and consistent API calls.

O  Software-Tools

From development to debugging - SEGGER's comprehensive range of software tools facilitates the creation, verification and debugging of target systems.

Product highlight: Embedded Studio - the leading multiplatform IDE

Embedded Studio is the complete solution for managing, creating, testing and deploying embedded applications. It offers a wide range of features that enable smooth and efficient development.

Multi-platform targets are managed from the same IDE - easily switch between projects within the same solution. The outstanding toolchain helps to create the smallest firmware for many applications.

O  Debug and Trace Probes

With their outstanding performance, robustness and ease of use, SEGGER's debug and trace probes ensure smooth operation and effortless troubleshooting. SEGGER debug and trace probes are established as standard tools in the industry worldwide.

Product highlight: J-Link PRO PoE - the specialized high-end debug probe for test operations

J-Link PRO PoE is SEGGER's specialized programming and debug probe for setting up test farms with a minimized wiring harness. J-Link PRO PoE can draw power via Ethernet and supplies power to the target either via the debug interface or a USB-A port.

O  Tools for Production

The Flasher in-circuit programmers from SEGGER have been developed for ultra-fast and reliable mass production. They streamline the production process and save time and resources.

Product highlight: Flasher Hub-12 - Mass programming at maximum speed

Flasher Hub-12 controls up to 24 Flasher Compact devices that serve as individual channels for high-speed parallel gear programming. Each channel can be configured to program a different device or firmware image.

Flasher Hub-4: Programming for Mass Production
In combination with SEGGER's Flasher Compact devices, the new Flasher Hub-4 offers a space-saving and cost-effective solution for high-volume production programming. SEGGER's Flasher Hub-4 is available immediately.

The target systems can be programmed simultaneously. SEGGER's gang programmer solution can be configured completely freely. Whether the same targets are to be programmed with identical firmware or different targets are to be programmed with different content is simply a question of how the Flasher Hub-4 is configured.

Four Flasher Compact devices can be connected directly to the Hub-4. By using SEGGER USB hubs, it is possible to increase the number of connected and controllable devices to up to 24.

With a size of only 125 × 78 ×25 mm, the Flasher Hub-4 is the compact version of the Flasher Hub-12. Barely larger than a standard deck of cards, the Flasher Hub-4 is extremely space-saving and therefore the most compact and efficient control unit for programming systems on the market.

The Flasher Hub-4 serves as a management and control system for the efficient operation of connected Flasher Compacts. Users can control and monitor the hub via handshake lines, RS232, USB or integrated Telnet, web or FTP servers.

In addition, individual programming tasks can be customized with unique serial numbers, patches and licenses for seamless integration into production environments.

All SEGGER in-circuit flash programmers are designed for the highest programming speeds and come very close to the theoretical minimum programming time of the target hardware. The included flasher software package from SEGGER runs cross-platform under Linux, macOS and Windows.

Long-term work with the system is ensured by making future software and firmware updates as well as new functions and flash loaders for target devices available free of charge.

Further information can be found on the Flasher Hub 4 page.

Linux Users: Important Improvements from Percepio

Linux-based operating systems are being used more and more frequently by software developers. According to Statista, a whopping 45 percent used Linux in 2022, which is not far behind Windows.

In recent months, Percepio has focused on improving the user experience of Tracealyzer for Linux. The upcoming version 4.9 will include important new features.

Users upgrading from older Tracealyzer versions will find that several UX issues have been fixed in v4.9. The user experience is now better aligned with the Windows version.

For example, you no longer have to click on a window before you can use the scroll wheel. Also, Tracealyzer now offers better support for the dark mode in Ubuntu.

From the Tracealyzer developer's point of view, the biggest change is that the Mono runtime environment has been integrated to ensure consistent performance and avoid problems caused by users with different versions of Mono.

This also allows issues in the underlying Mono code to be fixed, allowing much more control over the overall user experience. Another benefit is that new users no longer need to install Mono.

Percepio has also added installation scripts to fully automate the installation for selected distributions.

Tracealyzer v4.9 will be released shortly.

After the ups and downs of winter, summer seems to have finally decided to spoil us. More than any other month of the year, May wants us to feel alive. With all the news this month, I hope you have a great time.

Yours Sincerely,
